Winton was my Ayala Young Leaders Congress 2000 batchmate. He was a promising young leader who graduated with latin honors from Western Visayas State University in Iloilo. He was a talented writer, writing numerous pieces most of which in Filipino and garnered numerous literary awards for his sheer talent in writing. He was an achiever despite being orphaned at a very young age and being disowned by family.
Last Sunday morning, he was found dead in the bathroom of his condominium unit, hands and feet tied with 8 stab wounds all over his body. He could have been a National Artist, he could have written books, or he could have been your literary professor. He did not deserve to die such a tragic death but then again is no stranger to tragedies.
